The 5th annual mega event of inter school competitions, organized by DPS Indiranagar, on 22nd and 23rd October, truly proved to be a great crossroad for merging of potential budding minds with scientific, literary and artistic panache. The event received a tremendous participation from various schools of the city, braced up to win accolades for the acumen brought forth on the wide platform.
This year the theme of the event was ‘Science’, the constructive and destructive aspects of which are topics of endless debate. Students showcased their scientific innovations in the wake of the ‘dark and shady realms of science’.
The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr. Dalip Kumar Upreti and the Guest of Honor Ms. Amrita Dass and Ms. Ranu Uniyal with the tree plantation ceremony. Members of the management board, principals of the co-schools and delegates from various schools were among the dignitaries and luminaries who graced the occasion. The Principal Ms. Ghazala Afsar, through her address, infused a new hope and zeal among the participants and declared the meet open. The dance drama “FIVE ELEMENTS” by the students of classes X & XII left the spectators mesmerized.
There were a number of events under 15 different competition categories. The two-day high-spirited fest had activities ranging from Cognizance -a science quiz competition to Photography. The ‘Young Einsteins’ participating in the Model Making Competition presented their innovative and eco friendly ways of waste management. The participants of ‘Fashion Fiesta’ displayed their creativity by designing paper-made dresses and ramp-walking wearing the same . The mega event incorporated a string of competitions commencing with the English Literary Field under the category ‘Paparazzi-Young Journalist’, wherein the editorial proves of budding news paper designers was displayed and recognized. The debate competition “War of Words” saw a display of oratorical skills by vehement debaters on the topic, “Should human cloning be encouraged?” The event ‘Nukkad Nayak- Vigyan Aur Samaj’ left an indelible mark on the viewer’s psyche. The event Hydropix, gave a platform to the budding future cameramen to present the scenario of global water crisis from their angle and axis. The power point presentations in the event ‘Dynamic Logix’ were truly impressive. Most of the activities received an over-whelming response. The second day came alive with events like Group Dance Competition- In Tune with Hanson, Making of Fountain Jet, Model Making of a Gadget and, Guardians of Nature- the Poster Making Competition. The creative entries revealed children’s dexterity, originality, intellect and perspective.
The school , to provide a holistic education to the students , took a step forward with the second chapter of DPSIMUN this year. Delegates from a good no. of schools participated in the event. Various committees discussed the political and environmental issues of global concern.
