Mumbai, 14th April, 2018: To commemorate the birth anniversary of the famous artist and inventor, Leonardo Da Vinci, Kokuyo Camlin Ltd, the premier stationery brand recently celebrated World Art Day at the Kodaikanal International School, Kodaikanal, Tamilnadu. While The International Artists’ Association first celebrated World Art Day in 2012, Kokuyo Camlin took the lead and brought the concept to India with a tram painting activity in Kolkata in 2014.
The theme of the activity held at the Kodaikanal International School was ‘Visions for the World’ wherein students were given to paint on various topics like travel, communication, education etc. Kokuyo Camlin provided all the art material for painting and also felicitated the participants, educators and artists. The students happily unleashed their creative potential and churned out some really beautiful paintings as per the theme.
To celebrate the World Art Day 10 local schools and NGOs had gathered on the more than a century old campus of the Kodaikanal International School. They were also joined by 10 local artists to register their participation in World Art Day – 2018. Each pair of 2 school teams were given a single sub theme like education, nutrition, educations etc. so as to present two facets of the same theme. The teams of students smartly sporting caps and aprons with the World Art Day logo printed on it poured their creative energies on the 5-meter long scroll of canvas jointly.
The event culminated with the music infused closing ceremony held in the Alumni Hall of KIS, where all the paintings were displayed for viewing of the participants and the general public. The ceremony had pieces of music produced and presented by the music department of KIS woven in between the presentation of gifts and certificates to the participants and few speeches. Mr Adam Khan and the Head of Palani Hill Conservation Council appreciated the event and complimented the organizers for holding the WAD in Kodai. The principal KIS Mr Corey thanked Camlin for bringing such beautiful concept to KIS and expressed his pleasure on the successful conduction of WAD. Mr Ojha and Ms Neelima Deodhar from Kokuyo Camlin thanked participants, artists and KIS team for their contribution in making World Art Day a grand success.
Saumitra Prasad, Chief Marketing Officer, Kokuyo Camlin said, “We started celebrating world art day in India four years back in order to promote art in India. Every year we celebrate it in different parts of the country in a very unique way. This year we joined hands with the famous international school – Kodai international, and we were so glad that school children from so many countries could participate in the activity. We also received good support on social media as well”
In the year 2015, Kokuyo Camlin celebrated World Art Day by organizing the World’s Longest Canvas in Mumbai. This was followed by ‘Camlin Draws for Drought’ in 2016 in Mumbai wherein more than 60 professional artists were roped in to create ‘Art for Cause’, which were later donated to an NGO which works with farmer widows of Vidarbha.
