Spoken English to get a boost from Delhi Government and British Council

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Delhi Government and British Council to create more learning opportunities for students and teachers. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Director British Council India Alan Gemmell signed the MoU at a Delhi government school in West Vinod Nagar. On this occasion, British Council Chairperson Christopher Rodrigues and several students, teachers and officials were present at the venue.

Sisodia stated that this will strengthen partnership and they will be able to deal with English language learning, youth skilling, art and culture and other educational challenges more aptly. “We have been working with the British Council and this MoU will expand the scope of our engagements to skill development of youth and cooperation in art and culture as well,” he said according to PTI report.

Alan Gemmell stated that, “I have been delighted to launch this new partnership at a Delhi government school. We are inspired by the teachers and students of the school and by the ambitious vision of Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia for education across Delhi.”

A project called ‘Hanging Minds Changing Moves’ which incorporates dance and cricket elements in physical education to support gender equity in classrooms is also being drafted.
