Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) Managing Director KVB Reddy said in an announcement on Tuesday that the patronage of Hyderabad Metro Rail has touched 2 two crores. “20 million passengers traveled…we reached this number much before our expectation with only the Nagole – Ameerpet – Miyapur operational stretch and we are sure that these numbers will increase with the inauguration of Ameerpet – LB Nagar stretch”, he added.

Reddy thanked Hyderabadis for welcoming and embracing Hyderabad Metro Rail services in an “overwhelming” manner. He said that they have recently introduced free water facility for the passengers and also free of cost restrooms usage at all Metro stations. Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, considered as the world’s largest public-private partnership of its kind, commenced its operations in 2017 between Miyapur and Nagole, a total distance of around 30 km, covering 24 stations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated this first phase of the 72-km long elevated metro project on 28th November last year.
