VP M Venkaiah Naidu wants a ‘complete overhaul’ of India’s education system

To restore India as the prime destination for quality higher education, educational institutes need to cater more to the growing demand, according to Naidu. He identified the problem that the country was producing students with degrees and focusing on quantity rather than focusing on quality and edifying critical minds and employable skills.

He emphasized on the fact that there is a huge demand to pursue higher education among several young minds of the nation and educational institutions should cater to this growth. While addressing convocation in Lovely Professional University, Naidu said “Majority of our colleges have become mere breeding centres for producing students with degree certificates rather than individuals with critical analytical skills and innovative thinking.” He also asked private institutes to increase the space for students from the marginalised sections as presently it has become impossible for them to pursue higher studies due to economical instability.
