Twelve aspirants from West Bengal government’s only IAS training Institute, Administrative Training Institute made it on the UPSC Civil Service list. The topper of this institute, Mainak Ghosh bagged the 31st rank. The next rank holder is Saurabh Suman Yadav at the 55th position. The next rank holders are Sushant Singh at 189, Avinash Rai at 219, Joydeep Moitra at 295, Maheshwar Maji at 326, Rini Choudhury at 396, Md Sarfaraz Alam at 488, Sandip Garai at 516, Sayantan Ghosh at 539, Debjyoti Barman at 647 and Sanosh Jaiswal at 758.
The institute had only produced six CSSC students for the UPSC Exams since its inception. Producing 12 rank holders this year is like a record for the institute in its own way. “Only a few students from Bengal have been clearing the Civil Service Exam over the last two decades. However, in the last few years, there has been some good result with two-three students making the cut each year. However, this year’s result is definitely exceptional,” mentioned a source at the institute to TOI.
