The Cabinet has sanctioned Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI), a new Centrally Sponsored Scheme on September 7th, 2022. It exhibits the application of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 that evolved as a leadership model for all the other schools.
According to this scheme, there exists provision for setting up over 14500 PM SHRI Schools by reinforcing the prevailing schools among those schools that are managed by local bodies/Union Territories (UT) Government/State/Central Government.
In the initial selection phase, overall 6207 schools have been selected from 27 states or UT. It also includes Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS)/Navodaya Vidyalaya Sangathan (NVS) within which over 35 lakhs students are beneficial.
