The Department of School Education and Literacy has started the application process for the National Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the academic year of 2023-24. The scholarship will be given to meritorious students from classes 9 – 12 who come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Candidates can submit their applications on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Deadline for submitting the application would be 30th November, 2023. The scholarship is meant to combat the high dropout rate in students after class 8. Students need to meet specific eligibility requirements. Firstly, the annual parental income of the candidates should not exceed Rs 3.50 lakh. Students need to achieve a minimum of 55 percent marks or equivalent grade in class 7 examination to be eligible for the selection test.
