Three students from Holy Cross School, Tadong in East Sikkim won the Web Rangers India 2019 contest by Google. Aditya Chettri, Sewandeep Sharma and Rishal Pandey Chettri, who recently appeared for their Class 10 board exams, won the competition that is active in 20 countries across the world. The three boys formed a youth organisation named ‘The Cyber Warriors’ to spread Digital Literacy and awareness regarding cyber threats as well as provide innovative solutions, etc. They organised awareness camps, quiz and slogan writing competition and touched 50,000 plus lives through online as well as offline mode. They will be awarded at ceremony in New Delhi in the coming month.
This was Google’s fourth edition of “Web Rangers” contest that aims to spread awareness about Internet safety and promote digital citizenship. It wants to encourage creativity in teenagers to address the importance of cyber safety. This is probably the first time that students from Sikkim have won the prestigious competition.
