According to a statement by an official, on February 28, 2024, 32 candidates participating in the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Class 12 board exams were disqualified for breaching regulations by bringing mobile phones into the exam center. These measures were implemented to deter any misconduct, such as photographing the question papers and disseminating them on social media platforms.
According to a statement by Chiranjib Bhattacharya, President of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, in one incident four candidates were discovered using mobile phones during the exams on 28 February. Two candidates were discovered to have carried smartphones into the examination hall for the Mathematics paper, while the other two were set to sit for the history exam. As a result, their candidacy for the entire examination has been canceled.
According to Chiranjib Bhattacharya, to address concerns about test paper leaks, the council has introduced a new measure: assigning a unique serial number to each question paper, marking the first time such a method has been adopted. Around 789,867 students are taking part in the current year’s West Bengal Class 12 board examination. The Class 12 board exams are scheduled to conclude today, on February 29th.
