The 4 edition of the School Leaders Conclave 2023 hosted by Brainfeed Magazine and ET TECH X has successfully concluded on 9th October 2023, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Distinguished educational leaders, educators and experts belonging to the Odisha school educational landscape have joined the one-day conclave to discuss and throw light on the conclave topic “Reimagining the Future of Education”.
Brainfeed Magazine has been organising a series of school leadership conclaves across India to have productive conversations on the paradigm shift in education – teacher centred to learner centred, competency based, skill training etc. vis-à-vis the National Education Policy 2020. The first three conclaves of this series were successfully organised in the states of Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore), Andhra Pradesh (Guntur) and Telangana (Hyderabad).
Dr. Satyabrata Minaketan, Chairman, ODM Educational Group, graced his presence as the Guest of Honour at the 4th Edition of the School Leaders Conclave 2023, in Bhubaneswar, hosted by Brainfeed and ET TECH X. Mr. K Srinivasan, Regional Officer-Bhubaneswar Region, CBSE, was the Keynote Speaker, Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Mohanty, Head of Public Relations, Sri Sri University, Godisahi, Odisha, was the Guest Speaker and Mr. Samar Pratap Nayak, Founder and MD, Olive Ridley Media, was the Special Guest at the conclave.
The conclave started with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the dignitaries. Educationalist, philanthropist and motivational speaker Dr. Satyabrata Minaketan elucidated the paradigm shift in the field of education in modern India and particularly in Odisha. He stressed upon the need for schools to be open to policy changes and at same time implement them effectively. Speaking on the conclave’s topic “Reimagining the Future of Education” Dr. Satyabrata Minaketan shared his profound thoughts which have set the tone for the day’s discussions.
Quoting the NEP 2020 policy document, keynote Speaker at the conclave Mr. K Srinivasan said “To have an education system by 2040 that is second to none, with equitable access to the highest-quality education for all learners regardless of social or economic background, we need to transform the education system.” According to him, this transformation entails:
- Reshaping learning
- Transitioning from “Assessment of learning” to Assessment for Learning” to address learning gaps at the right time
- Improving Teachers’ Quality – Encouraging teachers to be ever learning individuals in this rapidly changing world
- Enhancing School Quality – Right school environment for children to learn at their own space and learn by doing
Mr. Srinivasan also highlighted the various initiatives supported by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to help schools, educators and students to successfully journey this transformation. He said “these initiatives are driven in key areas such as curricular and pedagogical interventions, student enrichment activities, development of resources and capacity building for teachers.”
Addressing the delegates at the conclave Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Mohanty spoke about the kind of education we need in the near future and stressed the need for governance in the education sector. Special Guest Mr. Samar Pratap Nayak was engaged in a fireside chat with Mr. Bhaaskaran Rangarajan, Director, Hydenmet Solutions. Mr. Nayak shared interesting aspects on the day’s topic “Reimagining the Future of Education”.
A vibrant panel discussion on “Reimagining the Future of Education” was held at the 4th Edition of the School Leaders Conclave 2023, in Bhubaneswar, hosted by Brainfeed and ET TECH X. It was moderated by Dr. Priyadarshi Nayak, Sr. Principal and Academic Head, St. Xaviers Group of Schools, Odisha. Dr. S N Panda, Director, Krishna Vikash Group of Institutions, Dr. Abhiram Sahoo, Principal, AB’s Oxford International School, Cuttack,
Mr. Jagneswar Bora, Principal, Delhi Public School, Paradip Refinery and Sr. Deepa, Principal, St. Vincent’s English Medium School Jatni, Khordha, graced the stage as the panellists. The panel discussed in detail the role of teachers in the future of education. Various points raised in the discussion stressed the need for continuous professional development for teachers to stay relevant.
Mrs. Jhansi Lakshmi G, Project Manager, Strategy & Transactions, Ernst & Young and Consultant, Start-up India, shared thoughts on inculcating entrepreneurial skills in students and its relevance in today’s scenario. Mr. Kishore Chandra Mohanty, President, Shiksha Vikash Samiti, Odisha, spoke about the Panchkosh model that helps understand and nurture all facets of human existence, from the physical body to the innermost self.
As the insightful conclave came to a close, one thing becomes abundantly clear: the future of education is not a distant horizon; it is unfolding before our eyes. The theme, “Re-imagining the Future of Education,” has inspired lively discussions, innovative ideas, and the promise of transformative change.
