The Physical Education saw the highest number of candidates in class 12 board exams while Theatre Studies and Human Rights had only one student. “Physical education is an activity-based subject and has less of rote learning. The marks are also added to the best of five subjects,” mentioned Central Board of Secondary Education secretary Anurag Tripathi.
CBSE conducted board exams in 213 subjects, including 55 skill subjects. Physical education had the highest number of candidates in this year’s Class XII board exams, as high as 7.28 lakh students.
For skill subjects like Carnatic Music, Mohiniyattam Dance, Health Centre Management, Theatre Studies and Library and Information Science there were less than 10 candidates.
One candidate appeared for Human Rights exam and another appeared for Theatre Studies in Haryana. Only five students appeared for Library and Information Science and 12 appeared for Philosophy from all over India.
