International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, honors the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. The theme for 2024 is ‘ Invest in women: Accelerate progress’. In recognition of this important occasion, Brainfeed will be highlighting diverse perspectives and insights from women leaders in the education domain.

In this context, we are pleased to present an article below by Mrs. Leena Nair, Principal, New Era Senior Secondary School, Vadodara, Gujarat.

I strongly believe that every woman has some powers within, it is just a matter of time & opportunity that will help her realize, release & use the same. I say this with full conviction based on the examples that we have had in the past and the present. From Sita to Rani Laxmibai to Kalpana Chawla, women are indomitable.

Women of today are creating ripples through their fantastic achievements in different spheres of life. No day goes without the news of some woman, amongst us, being recognized for outstanding work that has brought glory not only to her family but also to the nation.

International Women’s Day is a day to appreciate the strength and determination shown by women across the globe in various domains. I take pride in saying that we have had ladies who have gone to space, led massive banks, and broken barriers in corporate leadership. Women have shown remarkable progress in the fields of science, business, sports so on and so forth. They’ve shown us that they can break records and challenge stereotypical beliefs. However, we still need to focus more on empowering young girls to create a brighter and more inclusive future. Investing in education and providing equal opportunities for girls is essential for the progress of our society.

As a woman I feel, we’re not just celebrating today; we’re igniting a revolution. We pirouette through obstacles, shimmy past doubts, and moonwalk toward our aspirations. We’re not just breaking glass ceilings; we’re moonwalking on shattered glass. We’re not shrinking violets; we’re blooming sunflowers. We strut into boardrooms, classrooms, and living rooms, armed with confidence.

Our voices? Louder than a stadium concert. Our choices? Bolder than neon graffiti.

We’re not waiting for permission; we’re shaking things up. We’re the tectonic plates of change, shifting paradigms. When we lift each other, we elevate humanity. Because empowered women empower the world. We are the prism, refracting light into rainbows of possibility. Our hues blend courage with vulnerability, and wisdom with curiosity.

In this kaleidoscope of existence, I find my purpose—to be unapologetically, authentically me.

My message to all the beautiful men and women is this: Let’s aim to support and encourage one another be it the workplace or home, ensuring that every woman has the chance to reach her full potential. Let’s celebrate achievements and victories. Let’s recognize the resilience of women and continue working towards a more inclusive and equal world.

Let us commit ourselves to creating a world where gender does not limit anyone’s potential. Empowered girls grow into empowered women, and together, we can accelerate progress for all.
