“AI-Led Learning Is Shaping the Future of Indian Education”

by Ranjith Subeditor

India’s education sector is standing at a critical juncture, driven by policy reforms that place technology, skills, and inclusivity at the heart of learning. According to Anil Kapasi, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Arihant Academy, the recent Union Budget signals a decisive shift towards a future-ready education ecosystem that aligns closely with the national vision of Viksit Bharat.

Reflecting on the previous year’s financial roadmap, Kapasi noted that the Budget demonstrated a “clear, forward-looking approach to education,” particularly through its strong emphasis on artificial intelligence. He highlighted the establishment of AI Centres as a transformative step that could enable more personalised, adaptive, and efficient learning outcomes for students across the country.

The Indian Union Budget 2025 allocated Rs 1.28 lakh crore to the Ministry of Education, underlining the government’s intent to strengthen both school and higher education. Kapasi pointed out that targeted investments—such as the creation of 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs, the expansion of skilling centres, and enhanced IIT infrastructure—have laid the groundwork for nurturing innovation, critical thinking, and employability among learners. These measures, he observed, are closely aligned with the broader national goal of building a knowledge-driven and self-reliant India.

Beyond infrastructure, 2025 marked a significant push towards AI-led, skill-based, and blended learning models. Expanded digital infrastructure and initiatives like India’s SOAR programme have further supported this transition, enabling technology to bridge gaps in access and quality. Kapasi believes this phase has helped reposition education as a more flexible and outcome-oriented system, capable of responding to the evolving demands of industry and society.

Looking ahead, Kapasi expressed optimism that the upcoming Budget will act as the “next building block” in strengthening the education ecosystem. He anticipates greater focus on skill-based education, digital literacy, and teacher empowerment, while also addressing persistent infrastructure gaps. Strengthening industry–academia collaboration, he added, will be vital for enhancing student employability in an increasingly competitive job market.

Kapasi also stressed the importance of continuity in flagship schemes such as Samagra Shiksha, PM-POSHAN, and PM SHRI. Sustained support for these programmes, combined with a renewed emphasis on holistic development—including arts, sports, ethics, and student well-being—will be crucial for achieving balanced and inclusive growth. Such an approach, he believes, can ensure that both rural and urban learners benefit equally from educational reforms.

As India advances towards a technology-driven future, voices from the education sector underscore the need for policies that blend innovation with inclusivity. Kapasi’s perspective highlights how strategic investments, thoughtful reforms, and a learner-centric vision can collectively shape an education system prepared for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.
