The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the schedule for the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam (AISSEE) 2025. This exam, designed for admissions into Classes 6 and 9 in Sainik Schools nationwide, will take place on April 5, 2025. It will follow the pen-and-paper format using OMR sheets.
Eligibility for Class 6 Admission
- Students must be between 10 and 12 years old as of March 31, 2025.
- Admission for girls is available only in Class 6 in all Sainik Schools
Eligibility for Class 9 Admission
- Applicants must be 13 to 15 years old as of March 31, 2025.
- They should have completed Class 8 from a recognized institution before admission.
- Girls can seek admission to Class 9, but only if vacancies are available.

AISSEE facilitates entry into Classes 6 and 9, offering students a chance to study in CBSE-affiliated, English-medium, residential schools. These institutions train cadets for the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla (Pune), the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, and other officer training academies. Currently, India has 33 operational Sainik Schools.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved the establishment of 35 new Sainik Schools. These institutions will function in collaboration with NGOs, private schools, and state governments.
