The e-books were launched by the Education Ministry after the declaration of intermediate results
The state school textbooks of all grades in Andhra Pradesh have been made available in soft copy format (PDF). People can access these textbooks on the school education department’s website. 135 major and 218 minor books along with 371 e-books will be available on the website. These books can, however, not be used for commercial purposes.
The e-books were released by the Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana after the declaration of exam results. 353 books are currently available on the website and the remaining books will be available in the coming days. This is a step ahead of another step which was printing the QR code on the textbooks. It allows the people to download the book in the digital form.
All the books are available forever schools, including private and public, for downloading. However, these books cannot be used for commercial purposes such as making guides out of them. The education department of Andhra Pradesh is already distributing 4.8 lakhs of textbooks to 42 lakhs students from public schools and 3.8 lakhs of textbooks for 28 lakhs students from private schools.
The Education Minister had earlier declared 2023 intermediate exam results of the state. 61 percent of the first year students who wrote the exam and 72 percent of the second year students who wrote the exams passed the examination. Over 4.3 lakhs of students appeared for the first year examinations while the number of students who appeared for the second year was over 3.79.
Girls outshone boys in the both the exams with 65 percent of girls clearing the exam to 58 percent of boys in the first year. In the second year, 75 percent of girls passed the exam as compared to 68 percent of boys who passed the exam.
