Amidst COVID-19 Hustle, Kochi Schools Start Admissions

Schools in Kochi have initiated admission process for class I in the midst of national lockdown. Schools are functioning in accordance to the government guidelines set in regard to the process. City schools have also created virtual portals where parents can submit applications.

“These are early days and as of now, only a few parents have walked in,” said T V Peter, principal, Government Girls High School, Ernakulam South. “However, all schools in the district have geared up to cater to the parents. The government has issued strict instructions regarding the process. We are ready with sanitisers and social distancing provisions are in place too. The parents are welcome, minus their children,” he further added.

Officials recorded 5,259 students applying for admission in the government schools. Both the government aided and unaided schools have witnessed comparatively high number of students seeking admission for the academic year 2020-2021. The officials are expecting a growth in admission numbers owing to the newly added facilities and teaching aids now available.
