Kanchan Agarwal, 25, Founder, Positive Edge Tutors, explains the current scenario of education and why is a student studying, but not ‘actually learning.’
Today’s generation aspires for conceptual learning which in most cases is not met by mere classroom teaching. Classrooms have become over-crowded with no focus on customized learning of student. “We hear constant problems where students just mug up the topics to pass their examinations,” says Kanchan Agarwal (KA), Founder of Positive Edge Tutors.

Q. Positive Edge Tutors has been offering good services in the landscape of one-to-one education. Whom do youaccredit this success to?
The need of generation is to implement the concept-learnt on the applications.” We did a brief survey on problems associated with students through regular meetings with them. We gauged that most of the students were afraid of asking doubts in front of others. But those students were willing to ask all their doubts without hesitation in-person and that is the time when we decided to go for One-to-One education system.
Q. What were the specific set of challenges you saw in education sector? How is Positive Edge Tutors addressing them precisely?
The major challenge is our educational curriculum which is very well designed but lags behind owing to poor implementation and enforcement. So we encourage our students not to mug up but to actually understand them. We make sure that the basic concepts of the students are clear and we repeat the concept multiple times till they completely get it.
Q. Could you shed some light on services you offer for your customers?
We majorly provide one to one or group tuitions . student gets all the attention that is required and is able to ask doubts without any fear of being laughed at or judged . But, very soon we will be stepping into the world of e-learning
Q. What do you suggest for someone who intends to proffer services in education sector?
I would simply suggest that if you want to be in the field of education make sure that you spread knowledge and not just embrace money.
Q. What kind of attributes do you look in for when employing a candidate in your company?
Firstly they should be good at communication because if they can’t communicate well, they cannot share well with the students. Secondly, they should be eager to learn new things because learning and teaching goes hand-in-hand.
