The Andhra Pradesh Department of School Education has introduced a new rule mandating that all schools in the state offer three water breaks for students, due to high temperatures.
Dubbed the “water-bell initiative,” these breaks are scheduled for 9:45 am, 10:05 am, and 11:50 am, as declared by Praveen Prakash, the principal secretary of school education, in a press statement.
According to the Department of School Education, the aim of the water-bell initiative is to promote student hydration and improve their overall health. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) stated that on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 that 68 mandals across the state encountered a heatwave, with nine mandals facing severe heatwave conditions.
Yet, the forecast predicts a heatwave for only two mandals on Wednesday, 3rd April, 2024.
