Artificial Intelligence is Here to Stay

by admin

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has already entered our everyday lives in the form of facial ID recognition, chat bots in websites, recommendations in entertainment apps and so on.

The definition of AI can be concluded in simple words as the imitation of human skills such as learning and problem solving by a computer. The modern employment of AI can be seen in search engines, entertainment apps like Spotify or YouTube, and ecommerce websites.

An intelligent computer or a human who can code a computer that can gain intelligence to sort out data and analyse it to produce desirable results, is the need of the hour. The evolution of a computer from its previous experiences and mistakes to a more efficient one is called Machine Learning (ML). AI and ML are now the most sought after in the field of technology.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is of the opinion that AI will surpass the abilities of human brains within a few years. “We are headed toward a situation where AI is vastly smarter than humans. I think that time frame is less than five years from now,” said Musk in an interview given to New York Times.

So, the requirements for AI and ML creators are high in demand as of now which is expected to increase over the next few years. Since there is a shortage of skilled AI and ML creators around the globe, many MNCs including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, NVIDIA, etc. have already started online courses for AI and ML. In India, there are numerous institutes that offer courses in AI and ML.

Application of AI in the real world

Artificial Intelligence is now used in many areas in the modern world including the things that people use in their daily life. Amazon Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant are all examples of the cumulative use of AI and ML in daily life.

Careers in AI and ML

AI is now being used in almost all fields from ecommerce to agriculture and healthcare. Companies depend upon AI to obtain market analysis, fraud detection, and virtual/augmented reality. They are also using machine learning to provide users with personalised recommendations.

Business Analysis and Research

The job here is to research and design intelligent interfaces to analyse large chunks of data to obtain trends and feedbacks from the market. The patterns that can be obtained from these analyses can be used for the growth of businesses.

Product Design

The concept of product design changes according to the need of the company. It could be a simple display on the screen or a humanoid robot. A designer should ensure that the end product is versatile and suits specific needs.

AI Hardware

The data that is needed for the processes incorporating AI, ML, and other innovative technologies need to be stored at some place. Cloud computing enables users to store their data online but the servers needed for this are placed at various locations. The creation and accumulation of hardware components required for cloud computing is also one major career.

Artificial Intelligence Courses in India

There are also numerous free and paid online courses offered by various universities, tech giants, and websites including IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, and Google that can prove beneficial for the people who are looking for a career in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Finally, consider the words of Eric Boyd, corporate vice president at Microsoft AI and Research, “ML has the ability to transform the way we work, interact and communicate. To make this happen we need to put the right tools in the right hands.”
