On Wednesday, the Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu, announced that the state has commenced a substantial hiring procedure for school teachers. The Directorate of Secondary Education has released advertisements for up to 14,223 teaching positions throughout Assam.
The Directorate of Secondary Education has issued advertisements especially for 1,424 post-graduate teacher positions and 7,249 graduate teacher positions.
The graduate teacher positions will cover diverse subjects such as arts, science, Hindi, and Sanskrit, specifically designated for provincialized secondary schools. Provincialization entails the government assuming full responsibility for non-government schools established primarily to provide education to the society. This encompasses liabilities for the payment of salaries and other benefits to teachers. The objective of this initiative is to improve the efficiency and standardization of secondary education.
At the same time, the Directorate of Elementary Education has issued an advertisement for hiring 3,800 Assistant Teachers for Lower Primary (LP) Schools.
Moreover, advertisements for 1,750 positions, including Assistant Teachers, Science Teachers, and Hindi Teachers for Upper Primary (UP) Schools, have been published in various newspapers.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in response to the announcement, highlighted the government’s dedication to generating employment opportunities in the education sector.
He declared that their government has revealed openings for more than 10,000 positions in the education department today. They are committed to not only fulfilling but they also surpassed a pledge of creating over 1 lakh government jobs in Assam’s history, which promises transparency in the process.
It’s worth noting that the BJP had initially committed to providing one lakh government jobs annually in Assam during the 2021 assembly polls. However, it was later clarified that this figure represented the total for the entire five-year tenure.
