Avani Prashanth finishes Top 3 at the U.S Kids Golf World Championship at Pinehurst, North Carolina

Bangalore, August 16, 2019: Avani Prashanth, a grade VII student of Greenwood High International School continues to excel in Golf at the World Stage. Continuing on her success in the IGU Golf tournaments, Avani participated in the U.S Kids Golf World Championship recently, the largest and premier golf tournament for kids in the Girls 12 age category. Avani finished Top 3 among 129 girls in the Age Category. In the 3 day event, she shot rounds of (-1), Level par, level par to finish with 215 (-1 under par). She finished 9 shots behind the winner, Avery Zweig of the USA and 1 shot behind Madison Moman, also of the USA.

Avani was the best international player in the girls 12 age category and she got selected to play for the Van Horn Cup, a friendly 1-day team tournament between the USA and International team’s. She has a very good record at these tournaments, in the last 6 years, she has 2 top 3 finishes (2014, 2019), 1 top 4 (2015) and 1 top 5 finish (2016). She has been the best performing and most consistent Indian Female Golfer in the 20-year history of the tournament.

Avani continues to lead the IGU Order of Merit. She wants to represent India at the 2024 Olympics and wins a Gold medal for the country. Her dream is to become the No.1 Professional Golfer in the world and be an inspiration to girls to take up this wonderful game.
