The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has orders all schools to ensure the registration of students of classes 1 and 9 is completed by October 16.
It has also been decided by the Board that next year no registration of any student shall be done by the board when the LOC is filed.
CBSE stated that during the process of LOC submission, schools have informed that some students were left out for registration in the previous years to which CBSE in a notice said that it was unacceptable and such mistakes are not expected from the schools and will be viewed seriously.
The justification as to why few students were left for registration varied from mistakes by the administration or student wasn’t well etc.
However, CBSE also stated that a 25 percent relaxation will be given only in the cases of medical emergencies, national or international sports participation, or any other serious reasons, provided with proof of necessary documents.
The Board has instructed schools to inform students accordingly. “Schools must regularly monitor and maintain accurate attendance records. Attendance registers should be updated daily, signed by the class teacher and the competent authority of the school and be readily available for inspection by CBSE,” the official notice stated.
CBSE has also revealed that strict action will be taken against student’s failing to complete records, student’s not attending regularly, the school may face strict action and the students may not be allowed to appear for the board exams, thorough checking will be done during inspections and strict punishment will be taken.
The inspection will be held to check the attendance records and no changes will be allowed once the school submits the shortage of attendance cases.
