As the nation anticipates the 2025 Union Budget, experts are emphasising the critical need to prioritise K-12 education to foster holistic societal development and future-proof India’s youth. Dr Satyabrata Minaketan, Chairman of ODM Educational Group, has highlighted the pivotal role of this sector, stating, “As we approach the 2025 budget, I believe that prioritising K-12 education is imperative, given its pivotal role in driving holistic societal growth.”
Reflecting on the previous year’s budget, Dr Minaketan noted that the Department of School Education and Literacy was allocated approximately Rs 73,000 crore for 2024-25, underscoring a substantial commitment to school education. However, with over 254 million students enrolled in K-12 education, one of the largest systems globally, there is an urgent need to further enhance investments and strategies in this domain.

Dr Minaketan also pointed out the transformative potential of integrating cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Robotics into the educational framework. “As India stands on the cusp of a major transformation in K-12 education with the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as Robotics, AI, and ML, I am convinced that strategic investments in this sector will yield substantial results,” he remarked.
He further emphasised the importance of fostering collaboration, upgrading infrastructure, and enhancing teacher training. By addressing these areas, India can strengthen its position as a global leader in education for future generations.
As the government prepares to announce the 2025 budget, all eyes are on the education sector, with hopes of significant investments in technology, infrastructure, and teacher training to ensure that the nation’s youth are equipped to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world.
