During a meeting in the Punjab State Assembly, the Education Minister of Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains, stated that by March, no government school in Punjab would be devoid of teachers or have only one teacher. The Education Minister conveyed this to the Assembly while drawing attention to the decrease in schools lacking an adequate teaching staff. He stated that 3,500 out of the 20,000 schools handled by the state were either devoid of teachers or had only one teacher. He also stated that the number of teachers had diminished to fewer than 600.
Sharing future plans, the Minister revealed the government’s initiative to equip all 20,000 government schools with Wi-Fi by March. He stated that Wi-Fi systems have already been installed in 4,000 schools. Additionally, plans for the establishment of 10,000 new classrooms were announced to accommodate the growing student population.
The Minister declared that Punjab will be the first state in the country where every school will have a teaching staff and no school remains without a teacher and operates with a single teacher.
