The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) partnered with the British Council, UK’s international organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities, to organize a school education conference.
The two-day event aimed to delve into and exchange insights on innovative teaching methodologies for school education throughout India. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary School Education, inaugurated the conference, which drew participants from 300 schools and educational institutions, as well as representatives and policymakers from state and central governments and leading bodies such as CBSE, NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training), NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education), NIEPA (National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration), NCF (National Curriculum Framework Committee), and school boards nationwide.
The sessions focused on positioning school leaders and expert practitioners on available resources for students and teachers, enhancing their teaching-learning, and assessment. In the Conference, master classes were conducted by trainers from diverse groups, including the Jane Goodall Foundation, Premier League, Micro:Bit Foundation, Alpha Plus, Cambridge University Press and Assessments (CUPA), and CBSE.
Cambridge University Press and Assessment also presented findings and recommendations from the scoping study titled ‘Recommendations for strengthening pedagogy and assessment of practical teaching in classes 5-10.’ This study analyzed the teaching and learning of science, math, social science, and languages in CBSE schools in India to establish the use of high-quality hands-on practical and fieldwork activities as a crucial component of experiential learning.
