CBSE Announces Budding Authors Programme 2023-24
In line with the Central Board of Secondary Education’s Reading Mission’s initiative to foster a love for reading and writing among students, the CBSE Budding Authors Program invites students from class V to X to ignite their creative spark and explore the art of storytelling. This enriching experience provides a platform for students to express their imagination and ideas through the written word, with the opportunity to see their work published.
Phase 1: Unleashing Creativity within the School
Schools will conduct the first phase of the program from 10th – 30th November 2023, where students will craft original short stories in either English or Hindi. To prepare for this endeavour, students will be given a week to immerse themselves in extensive reading. Guidelines and prompts for writing are provided in Annexure I of this notification to assist students in their creative journey. Following a thorough evaluation process, two students per category will be shortlisted to represent their school in the next round. Guidelines for submission of entries by the students and the evaluation criteria to be shared as given at Annexure II of this notification.
Phase 2: Expanding Horizons through the Budding Authors Portal
Shortlisted students will embark on the second phase, registering through the designated link on the CBSE Academic website https://cbseacademic.nic.in/. Registration can be done from 1 st – 15th December, 2023. Each registered student will receive a unique login ID and password to access the Budding Authors portal. The portal will provide a platform for students to develop, edit, and submit their stories. The link for writing and submitting the stories will be available on the CBSE Academic website under CBSE Reading Mission from 26th December – 15th January, 2024. The students may develop, edit, and finally submit their entries till 15th January, 2024. The schools shall register the shortlisted students (2 winners of each category). The nodal teacher can facilitate the registration of students (maximum 6 students per school). The terms and conditions for participation in the second phase are provided at Annexure III of this notification.
Recognition and Rewards for Budding Authors
All students who successfully submit their short stories will receive an online certificate of participation. The top entries from each category will be evaluated by a panel of experts and provided editorial support to refine their creations. The most outstanding stories will be compiled into a collection of short stories, published by CBSE, showcasing the talent and creativity of budding authors.
Encouraging Participation and Fostering a Culture of Reading and Writing
School principals are encouraged to actively promote the Reading Mission and the Budding Authors Program, inspiring students to participate wholeheartedly. This program aims to cultivate a vibrant learning environment that nurtures a passion for reading and writing among students.
