The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the date sheet for class 10 and 12 board exams. The 2025 board exams are expected to commence on February 15, 2025. The official notification for the boards is yet to be released but speculations based on an earlier post by PTI on X suggest that the exam is likely to begin in February and conclude in April.
CBSE has a pattern of conducting the board exams in the month of February since 2023. In the year 2021 it was conducted on May 4 – June 7, in 2022 they were held in April 26-May-24. The exam date sheet will comprise the exam days, dates, timings and general instructions for the students.
The practical exams for Class 12 will be conducted under the supervision of an external examiner visiting the schools, on the other hand Class 10 practical exam will be held in the presence of school teachers, The Board is set to release a separate date sheet for practical examinations.
The board will implement the mandatory Closer-Circuit Television (CCTV) policy in schools to monitor the examinations in the upcoming examinations, Around 44 lakh students have been expected to take part in these exams across India and 26 countries in 2025, the board will designate 8,000 schools as examination centres approximately.
CBSE has declared a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help affiliated schools to submit the List of Candidates (LOC) for the year 2024-25 exams on time precisely.
Meanwhile, CBSE is also exploring a semester system involving biannual exams. Currently, the board exams for Classes 10 and 12 are conducted in February-March. According to officials, consultations are on and no decision has been made yet about when and in which format the plan to conduct board exams twice a year will be implemented.
