Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the launch of its annual Psycho-Social Counselling Services for students appearing in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2026.

The first phase of the free support initiative will begin on January 6, 2026, and will continue till June 1, 2026, the Board said in an official notice.

The counselling support is aimed at helping students manage exam-related stress, anxiety, and emotional well-being, as CBSE theory examinations are scheduled to begin from February 17, 2026. The Board said the initiative is designed to help students approach exams with confidence, balance, and mental clarity.

‘Support part of CBSE’s examination framework’

CBSE highlighted that psycho-social support has been an integral part of its examination process for decades. The Psycho-Social Tele-Counselling initiative was first introduced in 1998, and since then, it has been supporting not just students but also parents, teachers, and other stakeholders during the examination period.

Trained counsellors and educators associated with the Board are available to listen, guide, and assist students with care and confidence, especially during high-pressure exam months.

24×7 toll-free helpline and tele-counselling services

As part of the 2026 counselling cycle, students can access support through multiple modes:

24×7 Toll-Free IVRS Helpline:

Students can dial 1800-11-8004 to access round-the-clock support through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Guidance related to stress management, time management, and exam preparation is available in Hindi and English.

Tele-Counselling Support:

Tele-counselling services are available during working hours, where students and parents can interact directly with trained counsellors and educators.

In addition to helpline services, CBSE has also made digital resources on stress management, effective study strategies, and emotional well-being available on its official website to ensure easy access for students across the country and abroad.

CBSE has encouraged students and parents to actively use these services as part of its ongoing efforts to support students’ psycho-social well-being during the Class 10 and 12 board examination cycle, which will begin from February 17, 2026.
