CBSE Clarifies: New Textbooks Only for Classes 3 and 6 in 2024-25

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on July 10th instructed schools to retain the existing curriculum and continue using the same textbooks for all classes, except for grades 3 and 6. The board specified that there are no changes to the curriculum or textbooks for other classes for the 2024-25 academic year, which began on April 1, 2024.

According to a Tweet posted on its ‘X’ social media handle, the CBSE reiterated that for all classes other than 3 and 6, there are no changes to the existing curriculum or textbooks. The board instructed schools to continue using the same textbooks for these classes as they did in the previous academic year (2023-24). The official social media post can be accessed HERE.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) had decided to update the curriculum and textbooks for Classes 3 and 6. This initiative aims to align these classes with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education – 2023 (NCFSE – 2023) and ensure a seamless transition to the revised syllabus.
