by Triparna Ray

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the Class 10 board examination results for 2025. This year, 2,371,939 students appeared for the exams held between February 15 and March 18. Of these, 2,221,636 students passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 93.66%—a marginal increase of 0.06% compared to 2024.

Over 1.99 lakh students scored above 90%, and more than 45,000 secured marks exceeding 95%.

Trivandrum Region Leads Once Again

Among the 17 regions evaluated, Trivandrum emerged as the best performing district with a pass percentage of 99.79%, followed by Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune. On the other end of the spectrum, Guwahati recorded the lowest pass percentage at 84.14%.

Girls Outshine Boys

Continuing the trend seen in Class 12 results, girls have outperformed boys in Class 10 as well. The pass percentage for girls stands at 95%, compared to 92.63% for boys.

Accessing the Results

Students can check their results on the following official websites:

Results are also available on the DigiLocker platform and the UMANG mobile app. To access their scores, students will need to enter their roll number, school number, and admit card ID.

No Toppers List This Year

In line with its approach from recent years, CBSE has not released a merit list or named national toppers, aiming to discourage unhealthy academic competition. The board continues to emphasize holistic development and lifelong learning over rank-based achievement.

Re-evaluation and Compartment Exams

Over 1.41 lakh students have been placed under the compartment category. Students who are dissatisfied with their scores may apply for re-evaluation or verification of marks through the CBSE portal. Further details, including deadlines and application procedures, will be available on the official website.

Students who did not pass one or two subjects are eligible to appear for compartment examinations later this year.

Guidance for the Future

Following the result declaration, students will now begin making important academic decisions, including selecting streams for Class 11. CBSE has urged schools to offer appropriate counselling and support to help students make informed choices aligned with their interests and career aspirations.
