CBSE Class 12 Results 2025: Fine Arts, Chemistry, Accountancy Top the List of Highest-Scoring Subjects

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Class 12 results for 2025 on May 13, releasing a detailed breakdown of student performance, scoring trends, and subject-wise data. A total of 2,384 students achieved perfect scores in Chemistry—making it the most scoring subject in the Science stream.

Let’s take a closer look at which subjects emerged as the most scoring across Science, Commerce, and Humanities.

Science Stream: Chemistry, Computer Science Lead in Perfect Scores

CBSE data shows that Chemistry topped the Science stream with 2,384 students scoring 100/100. It was followed closely by Informatics Practices (1,952), Computer Science (1,676), and Mathematics (Standard) (1,128).

Other Science subjects saw fewer perfect scores:

  • Biology: 738
  • Physics: 274
  • Applied Mathematics: Just 56 students

These numbers reflect ongoing trends, with Chemistry and Computer-based subjects gaining popularity and Physics remaining one of the more challenging core subjects.

Commerce Stream: Accountancy and Economics Perform Strongly

In the Commerce stream, Accountancy led with 1,713 students scoring full marks, followed by Economics (1,244) and Business Studies (1,260). Again, Informatics Practices (1,952) and Computer Science (1,676) stood out, showing their increasing relevance even in Commerce education.

Entrepreneurship, while still a less common elective, had 231 students achieving a perfect score.

Humanities Stream: Fine Arts Dominate with Record-High Scores

In the Humanities stream, Fine Arts subjects dominated.

  • Painting alone saw a massive 20,491 perfect scores.
  • Commercial Art followed with 2,254, while Graphics and Sculpture added around 400 more.

Among academic subjects, Political Science saw the highest perfect scores (835), followed by:

  • Geography: 601
  • History: 186
  • Sociology: 117
  • Home Science: 360
  • Economics (shared with Commerce): 1,244

The data reflects a growing trend where creative and interdisciplinary subjects in Humanities are gaining mainstream attention and academic success.
