With the help of his mother and support from his teachers, 17-year-old Ojas Dhankar passed the CBSE class 12 board examination with flying colours
17-year-old Ojas Dhankar was diagnosed with ‘leukemia’ in November, last year. He is a chess and Rubik’s cube enthusiast. Surpassing expectations, Ojas scored 81pc in his class 12 board examination. After a long wait, the CBSE board exam results were finally declared on Friday, 22nd July.
Sadly, the young boy had to give up his long-held IIT JEE dream owing to his medical condition. Instead he has now taken admission in an integrated BTech programme at the Symbiosis Skills University with mechatronics as his special subject.
Talking to the press Ojas recalled the support he received from his parents, doctors, teachers and friends. “My teachers helped me a lot. Sometimes they extended the deadline of submissions for me, sent me question papers for mock exams, and gave me their personal notes,” he said.
Ojas thanked his mother and friends as well, for their unwavering support in his fight against cancer. He credits them for his excellent performance in the crucial examination.
Ojas’s mother Anjali, who is a business woman thanked the doctors for instilling confidence in her child. “The doctors told us he can study in hospital. However, after a few days, it was not possible for him to even sit. We went through a lot of transitions during the next few months, but the doctors gave us confidence and we hung onto that hope,” she recalled.
Ojas Dhankar is definitely an inspiration for the student community in our country.
