The Central Board of Secondary Education has requested Principals/ School heads of its affiliated schools to cascade the information and increase awareness about e-Jadui Pitara amongst all the teachers and other stake holders of their respective schools. CBSE wants the schools to encourage them to download the app and make full use of the available literature and content to help inculcate FLN competency and ultimately reach the designated Learning Outcome (LO) as mentioned in National Curriculum Framework-Foundational Stage (NCF-FS).
Jaadui Pitara is a play-based teaching and learning resource designed to cater to the diverse needs of foundational learners. It is aligned with the National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage (NCF-FS) 2022. The e-Jaadui Pitara app has more than 1,000 stories in different languages. Using Artificial Intelligence, it comprises of three bots, viz.
a) Katha Sakhi: Your storyteller Buddy, bringing magical tales to life
b) Teacher Tara: A guide for educators, offering tips and resources
c) Parent Tara: A supportive companion for parents, providing guidance and fun activities

e-Jadui Pitara is an app now available for Android users along with browser access at https://ejaaduipitara.ncert.gov.in. In due course of time, e-Jadui Pitara shall be available for iOS users too. e-Jadui Pitara’s IVRS interface is also available on Toll free no. 18002120173 /15108 which can be used with the old mobile phones with press-button based inputs, thus, eliminating the requirement of a computer or a smartphone.
CBSE has advised affiliated schools with Balvatikas (Early Childhood Education sections) and the ones planning to establish it, to create dedicated spaces for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). These spaces are suggested have an appealing and age-appropriate environment, and incorporate the use of Jaadui Pitara. The extensive use of branding with the NIPUN (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) and Jaadui Pitara logos is recommended to enhance visibility and recognition.
Schools are also directed to consult the Guidelines for Pre-School Education developed by NCERT, available at https://ncert.nic.in/dee/pdf/guidelines-for-preschool.pdf, when establishing or modifying existing Balvatikas. This resource provides valuable insights for ensuring the effective implementation of early childhood education practices.
Jaadui Pitara was introduced on February 20, 2023, as part of the government’s commitment to enhance the educational experience and ensure a child-centric, vibrant, and enjoyable learning environment. Jaadui Pitara focuses on fostering development in five crucial domains: physical, socio-emotional and ethical, cognitive, language and literacy, and aesthetic and cultural. This comprehensive collection, serving as an exemplary resource for Foundational Stage schools, includes toys, games, puzzles, puppets, posters, flashcards, story cards, student playbooks, and teacher handbooks. With content available in 13 languages, JP is tailored to resonate with local cultures, promoting curiosity and enriching the educational experience.
This initiative represents a significant stride towards aligning educational content with children’s perspectives, in line with the vision outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Jaadui Pitara, while supporting pedagogy to achieve a broad range of NCF-FS curricular goals, also acknowledges the need for additional content and pedagogical strategies to fulfil all Learning outcomes and competencies. Schools are encouraged to develop similar set of materials for the Foundational Stage in line with the National Curriculum Framework and Syllabus for the Foundational Stage for ensuring to achieve all the stipulated learning outcomes and competencies.
