The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken strict actions against schools found involved in malpractices. As a result, 20 schools have been disaffiliated and three have been downgraded nationwide. Himanshu Gupta, the Secretary of CBSE, stated that this decision follows surprise inspections that revealed violations of affiliation and examination standards.
Among the affected schools, five are situated in Delhi, with the rest scattered across Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Dehradun, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, schools in Delhi, Punjab, and Assam have experienced downgrades in their affiliations.
According to the notification by the CBSE, following a surprise inspection conducted in schools nationwide to ensure compliance with the provisions and norms outlined in the Affiliation and Examination Bye-laws, it was discovered that certain schools were engaging in various malpractices such as presenting dummy students, ineligible candidates, and failing to maintain proper records. After a comprehensive investigation, it has been determined to disaffiliate and downgrade the mentioned schools.
The CBSE notification emphasized that this information is being shared in the interest of the public. Parents/guardians can visit the CBSE website at https://saras.cbse.gov.in/saras/Home/Category Wise to verify the affiliation status of a school.
