The HRD Ministry (Human Resource Development Ministry) has asked CBSE, NCERT, NTA and NIOS to design new academic calendars. The reason behind this is the worldwide chaos through coronavirus outbreak.

As a measure to fight this pandemic, PM Modi has announced lockdown across India. The spread of Covid-19 has created panic as the number of positive cases is rising in the country. As a result, many exams are postponed.
CBSE Board Examination, Entrance Examinations and recruitment exams stand postponed. HRD makes it important to create a new schedule for all such exams.
HRD has directed NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), NTA (National Testing Agency), CBSE and NCERT to work on a revised schedule.
This revised schedule is to conduct the postponed examinations. In additon, the ministry also said, “the autonomous bodies and NCERT should draft academic calendars,” as per ANI reports.
Officials to work from home
All offices of HRD will follow the directives of the Home Ministry. Therefore, all offices including autonomous institutions and subordinate offices will remain closed. The shutdown is for three weeks. This 21-day lockdown is announced to reduce the spread of coronavirus in India.
According to reports, all the officers and staff will work from home to clear pending matters. Bureau heads and divisions will ensure that all financial matters relating to releases, particularly salaries and pensions are cleared.
