The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon be organising skill module programmes for classes 6 to 8. The modules are said to be aligned with the skill subjects offered by the Board in secondary and higher secondary classes. These subjects are meant to alleviate any hard separation between curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular or academic, vocational, physical education or art education. The initiative has been announced prior to announcement of the CBSE results.
Skill module webinars on blue pottery, bakery, khadi, block printing, mask making, Kashmiri embroidery, food preservation, and mass media have been operational since May 1. The programmes will take place till May 19. Anyone can access the webinars on CBSE’s official Youtube channel. Each course is of a duration of 10 to 15 hours and they are optional for students to take. The skill module webinars seek to nurture students’ creativity and also inculcate in them the knowledge of Indian art and culture.
