The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the practical examinations and internal assessments (IA) for the 2025 Class 10 and Class 12 board exams will start from January 1, 2025.

It was confirmed in a recent circular that outlined the subject-wise distribution of marks for these exams. The theory exams shall commence on February 15, 2025.

The practical exams will be held earlier for schools in cold winter-bound regions, from November 5 to December 5, 2024, due to the schools expected to be closed during January. This change from the standard January schedule is due to the cold weather in those areas.

The official date sheets for the theory exams are expected to be released in December 2024, following the pattern of previous years.

In 2025, around 44 lakh students will sit for the Class 10 and 12 board exams at approximately 8,000 schools across India and abroad.

Students are reminded that maintaining a minimum of 75% attendance is a requirement to be eligible for the board exams.

CBSE allows a 25% relaxation in cases of medical emergencies, participation in national or international sports events, or other serious circumstances, provided the appropriate documentation is submitted.

Additionally, the CBSE has made sample papers for the Class 10 and 12 board exams available on its academic website (cbseacademic.nic.in). These sample papers are crucial for exam preparation, as they give students an idea of the exam pattern, the types of questions to expect, and the marking scheme.
