The National Curriculum Framework-School Education 2023 (NCF-SE 2023) places a strong emphasis on fostering an appreciation and understanding of India’s rich cultural heritage, diverse traditions, literature, art, and geographical diversity. Instilling pride and rootedness in India is a central theme across all curricular areas. To achieve these objectives, it is crucial to provide children with ample exposure to India’s heritage and knowledge.
the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been reinforcing the promotion of Indian culture and heritage in all its affiliated schools in collaboration with its culture and heritage knowledge partner – Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth (SPIC MACAY). Often CBSE has been communicating to affiliated schools regarding the importance of culture and values-integrated education for the all-round development of young students who will decide and define the future of our country.
The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth (SPIC MACAY) plays a pivotal role in fostering values-based cultural activities within educational institutions. It organizes a variety of programs, including classical and folk music, dance, crafts, and other cultural activities, designed to inspire students to appreciate the rich tapestry of Indian culture and heritage. Additionally, interactive sessions are conducted to delve into the deeper values embedded within these art forms. These programs are led by renowned government-recognized awardees, esteemed Guides (Gurus), and artisans from diverse fields.
To foster experiential, value-based education, CBSE is once again encouraging its affiliated schools to create Culture and Heritage Clubs. The schools can collaborate with SPIC MACAY for delivering heritage and culture based activities to the students. Suggested activities for these clubs, along with additional modules, can be found in Annexures 1 and 2 of this CBSE Notification. SPIC MACAY is committed to providing resources and support to Culture and Heritage Clubs as a Knowledge Partner.
