CBSE Releases Circular on Mandatory Self-Assessment for Schools on SQAAF Portal

by Subeditor1

On 15th May, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a circular requiring all affiliated schools to complete a self-assessment on the School Quality Assessment and Assurance Framework (SQAAF) portal for the year 2024. This requirement aims to enhance the quality of education and ensure continuous improvement in CBSE-affiliated schools. The circular issued in this regard can be accessed HERE.

This announcement follows the previous Circular No. 14/2023, dated 24th March 2023, and the notification from 2nd January 2024, both available on the CBSE SARAS portal and the CBSE academic website. Schools can conduct the self-assessment on the SQAAF portal up to 31st December 2024.

Key points to note for the self-assessment process include:

  • Schools must fill out a Self-Improvement Plan after submitting the Self-Assessment across all domains.
  • The Self-Improvement Plan must be submitted for each domain separately.
  • Schools cannot make any edits after the final submission.
  • Schools may download their report after the final submission.
  • The portal will only provide the overall scorecard for the year 2023.

As per Circular No. 14/2023, dated 24th March 2023, the CBSE has made the prior self-assessment mandatory for accepting applications for fresh affiliation, switch-over, upgradation, and extension on the SARAS Portal for the academic session 2024-25 and onwards.
