CBSE students to get compulsory sports period everyday

by admin

CBSE-affiliated school students from classes I to VIII will get one mandatory period for Health and Physical Education every day. Last year Health and Physical Education (HPE) was introduced for students of classes IX to XII and was made compulsory for all CBSE schools. This announcement to make it mandatory for classes I to VIII is a continuation of the HPE program. The sports classes will start from the next academic year starting from April 2019.

“The revised and updated transactional strategies, detailed guidelines and methodology for administering HPE (Health and Physical Education) to students will be available on CBSE website shortly,” says the CBSE circular.

This rule will ensure that all CBSE-affiliated schools now have a mandatory period for physical and health education from classes I to XII.

The board also mentioned in a statement “CBSE has decided to mainstream Health and Physical Education for classes IX to XII with the aim of holistic development of the child, leading to a well-balanced individual in all walks of life.”
