CBSE is about to introduce a trial run of the National Credit Framework for grades 6, 9, and 11 starting in the 2024-25 academic session. Affiliated schools have been invited to participate. The National Credit Framework (NCrF), initiated in 2023, by the government as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) of 2020, aims to integrate school, higher, and vocational education seamlessly. Its goal is to allow students to earn credits from pre-primary education all the way to the PhD level. Following this, CBSE drafted preliminary guidelines for putting the framework into practice.
The board in a letter addressed to school principals mentioned that the CBSE developed and circulated draft NCrF guidelines, discussed them in multiple workshops, and received approval from the Union Ministry of Education. To further test, refine and assess their effectiveness in real world contexts, a pilot implementation of these guidelines has been planned in schools affiliated to CBSE in classes 6, 9 and 11 with effect from session 2024-25.
The letter also mentioned that principals of schools interested in participating in this trial program are requested to provide their contact information through the following link: (https://forms.gle/5AB2iuxa1k62r2E3A).
