To enhance disaster management education in schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is organizing webinars aimed at sensitizing schools about the CBSE Handbook on ‘Disaster Risk Reduction in Schools (Classes 6 to 10).’ As per the official circular, the webinars are scheduled to take place on 29th and 30th April 2024 for Heads and teachers of CBSE-affiliated schools. The webinars are free of charge. Through these sessions, CBSE aims to equip teachers with the essential skills needed to enable students to enhance disaster preparedness, response, and resilience-building, ensuring they are well-prepared to face potential disasters. The last date to register for the webinars is 21.04.2024.

According to the official circular released by the CBSE, disaster management has long been an integral part of the CBSE curriculum. It focuses on educating students about various aspects of disasters, including their causes, and mitigation measures, and fostering awareness about reducing disaster occurrences. The webinars are being conducted as the evolving landscape necessitates the integration of the latest concepts of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) into the curriculum, aligning it with different subjects.
