In an official notification, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has urged students, parents, and educators to prioritise institutions that meet national education standards.
The board referenced a recent report in a leading national newspaper that highlighted a JEE (Mains) topper’s success, which was attributed to his enrollment in a non-attending (dummy) school.
CBSE acknowledged the student’s achievement but cautioned against misleading interpretations of the report. It clarified that the institution, SGN Public School in Delhi, had been disaffiliated last year. A surprise inspection by a two-member committee confirmed that the school sponsored non-attending students and committed multiple violations of board norms.
CBSE emphasized that such practices raise serious concerns about the institution’s legitimacy and urged students to seek education from recognized schools that adhere to national standards.
The board also reminded students and educators that portraying non-attending schools as a superior alternative contradicts the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The policy promotes a holistic and well-rounded education that nurtures critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and real-world problem-solving. These are the qualities often compromised when students bypass regular schooling for exam-focused coaching.
JEE Mains Session 1 results were announced on February 11, 2025, with 14 candidates securing a 100 percentile.
