The centre has decided to come up with “PM Shri Schools” with the aim to make students’ future ready and the new concept will be in line with the objectives of the new National Education Policy (NEP), said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday.
He spoke on the occasion of the second day of the National School Education Ministers’ Conference held in Gujarat. During his comprehensive speech, the union minister emphasised on many key points like he asked for suggestions and feedback from all the states/UTs, including the education ecosystem to devise a futuristic framework to manifest the vision and practices of PM Shri schools in the best possible way.
He added that school education is the bedrock for the upliftment of society and NEP will augment and facilitate this mission of holistic development and make education equitable to all the strata of society. He also talked about how India’s progress would be in the next 25 years as a knowledge economy and as a global education hub.
The union minister also pressed on the need to integrate technology with the mainstream schooling system to prepare students for the 21st-century challenges and opportunities and buttress our learning and upskilling apparatus. At the conference, an overview of different facets of the 21st– century’s futuristic model of the education system was also showcased.
He also highlighted how NEP will benefit and transform the Indian education system by covering holistic learning from pre-school to higher secondary which will focus on ECCE, skill development, teachers’ training and delivering education in the native language from the formative years of students to prepare them as global citizens and leaders.
He also encouraged all state education ministers to come forward and exchange experience and share knowledge for an outcome-based discourse to revamp the learning and teaching ecosystem across the country in tandem with the NEP 2020 goals. Additionally, he stated that we all are on the path to nurture our education system by mandating inclusive and equal educational access to all children and future generations.
