CGBSE to conduct state board exams twice a year

by Soumili Subeditor

The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE), Raipur, has declared on 27th February, 2024, that state board exams for Class 10 and 12 will now occur twice annually. This decision is made in consultation with the state government, however it is yet to be known whether it will be applicable from the upcoming academic year.

According to the official guidelines, the first examination is slated for March, while the second is scheduled for June-July. It’s important to note that only students who have registered for the first examination are eligible to apply for the second, besides requests for subject changes will not be accepted.

Students who do not pass in all subjects, receive a supplementary, or are absent, as well as those aiming to enhance their grades across all subjects, can participate in the second examination. Conversely, students who have successfully passed all subjects are permitted to submit a form for grade improvement in one or more subjects during the second exam. The structure of the opportunity test will remain unchanged.

This development follows closely after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that starting from the academic session 2025-26, students will have the opportunity to take Class 10 and Class 12 board exams twice a year. Notably, he disclosed this information during the launch of the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh, a program that aims to upgrade 211 schools in the state.
