Education principal secretary Burra Venkatesham instructed school education commissioner EV Narasimha Reddy and other officials to implement “with immediate effect” the change in the timings of high schools across the state, which will now function from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Previously, these schools were operating from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Primary and upper primary schools will continue to function as usual, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 a.m. The department, however, retains the 8.45 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. school timings in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in view of the traffic congestion. The department has also issued orders regarding the adjustment of school working hours.
