The Chhattisgarh government is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionise its educational framework, aiming to improve both academic performance and operational efficiency. A senior official from the state’s education department revealed that AI technologies are now integral to monitoring student performance, managing sanitation, and ensuring meal quality in schools.
AI systems will oversee a range of activities, from tracking students’ academic progress to managing sanitation facilities and monitoring toilet hygiene. A geo-fenced attendance system is set to enhance accountability by ensuring teachers’ presence, thereby improving student safety.
Traditionally reliant on manual inspections, food quality assessment will now benefit from AI’s precision. The technology will analyse factors such as vegetable freshness, rice texture, and oil content to ensure consistent meal quality across schools.
To implement these changes, the state has established the Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Raipur. This facility will utilise AI for online monitoring and data analysis, supporting various education schemes and providing real-time information about schools and students. The Kendra will also be instrumental in evaluating the number of teachers and academic performance.
Collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai is underway to develop software and mobile apps for monitoring school activities and student progress. Additionally, call centres will be available for addressing concerns related to students, parents, and teachers.
Looking ahead, the Vidya Samiksha Kendra will facilitate AI-based assessments of academic activities, focusing on identifying and supporting students who need additional help. A toll-free phone number will be introduced to resolve issues related to the educational system, further enhancing communication and support within the school community.
