Chhattisgarh govt takes helicopter to transport question papers to Naxal hit area

The Chhattisgarh government has utilized a helicopter to transport the question papers for the state board exams to an exam center situated in Sukma district, which is situated in an area surrounded by Naxalites.

The Class 12 board exams conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE), commenced on March 1, 2024 while the Class 10 board exams are set to commence from Saturday.

Pictures of the helicopter transferring the question papers to the Jagargunda exam center in Sukma were shared on ‘X’ by the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s office. Officials mentioned that this marks the second consecutive year in which a helicopter has been employed to transport the board exam papers to the Jagargunda exam center in Sukma.

CM wrote on twitter that it is Chhattisgarh, where they prioritize the future of their children. Question papers were transported to Jagargunda in Sukma via helicopter as the board examinations are commencing on March 1, 2024.

The decision to fly the question papers to the Naxal-affected region underscores the commitment to ensuring that every child receives essential education.  In the tweet CM also declared that the Chhattisgarh government is unwavering in its dedication to securing a brighter future for our children. No child should be denied the opportunity for a quality education.

Out of the 16 board examination centers in Sukma district, question papers for the Jagargunda center were airlifted via helicopter on February 27, 2024 due to security concerns. At the Jagargunda center, a total of 36 students, comprising 16 from Class 12 and 20 from Class 10 representing various schools, are scheduled to take their exams.

Previously, students from that region had to travel to Dornapal for their board examinations.

The Class 12 examinations commenced on March 1, 2024 and are scheduled to take place from 9:15 am to 12:15 pm. The board has advised students to be seated at their designated places by 9 am, as the distribution of answer sheets will begin at 9:05 am, followed by the distribution of question papers at 9:10 am.

The examination started with the Hindi paper on the first day, followed by English on March 4. The Class 12 Chhattisgarh board exams are set to conclude on March 23, 2024.

In the ongoing academic session, more than 2.61 lakh students have registered for the Class 12 state board examination, which will be conducted from March 1 to 23, 2024. Additionally, over 3.45 lakh students will be taking the Class 10 board exams, scheduled to be held between March 2 and 21. Officials have established a total of 2,475 examination centers across the state.
