In today’s digital age, video resources have gained immense popularity as a means of content dissemination as a part of e-content. The development of video technology has seen remarkable progress over the past few years, leading to the creation of various formats, devices, and applications that have transformed the way video content is captured, shared, and consumed.
The evolution of video technology has been a continuous journey, marked by innovations in capturing, encoding, transmitting, and displaying motion pictures. These advancements have transformed our communication, entertainment mediums, the way we learn, and experience the world around us.
The development of video resources assists learners from early childhood education to adult learning environments to retain concepts and more information, as well as making it easier for them to focus their attention. The teaching-learning process has evolved with the increasing use of audiovisual technology. Implementing these innovations in the classroom environment helps improve learning outcome results.
In addition, e-content contributes to the overall convenience and efficiency of the teaching-learning process. With easily accessible digital resources, teachers can easily update and modify content to reflect the latest developments and discoveries in their respective fields. E-content also facilitates the easy distribution and sharing of educational materials compared to traditional print-based materials, saving time and resources. Additionally, e-content enables teachers to track and monitor learner progress, providing valuable insights into areas of strength and areas that may need additional support. The development of e-content empowers learners to take an active role in their learning process, facilitates a deeper understanding of complex concepts, and caters to different learning styles.
Section 23.6 of the National Education Policy 2020 states that “teaching-learning e-content will continue to be developed by all states in all regional languages as well as by NCERT, CIET, CBSE, NIOS and other bodies/institutions and uploaded on the DIKSHA portal.” The 2023 budget also aims to promote a more equitable and inclusive education system across India. A large sum has been allocated for the development of e-content to promote digital literacy across the country, as part of the Digital India program.
Section 6.2.5 also states that it is of utmost importance to create an enabling mechanism to provide equal opportunities to children with special needs to access quality education at par with any other child. It also emphasizes on the development of quality e-content in various forms in all regional languages for a diverse group of learners, including children with special needs (Divyang), and empowering the student and teacher communities across India.
